Every visit to Jiquilpan brings back vivid memories. This town holds a big place in my heart, it is where I spent countless summers as a kid, roaming the streets carefree. As I grow older, I have become fonder of the small town vibes, slow pace, and peaceful lifestyle.

This short video highlights so little of what Jiquilpan has to offer, from famous musicians, amazing artwork, and friendly culture. This small town has more historical monuments, presidents of Mexico, and cultural sites that I simply did not have time to visit in my short trip. But there will be more opportunities for me to show you all more soon!

According to legend, a young African slave was sent to work in the mountain where he was bitten by a viper. His mother immediately ran to help him by performing a typical African ritual with songs, dances and prayers that saved his life. The Totonacs imitated this rite that was later transformed into the Dance of Negritos.
